More About Fretz

Fretz, the Mitred Conure
Update: 9/25/09
Fretz is entertaining and want to be entertained. This is not a hand tame bird, he sets the boundaries but loves attention. He will show you if he is mad if you ask him by shaking his rope toy, he loves head sritches, will eat anything offered and is a clown. He is not a loud Conure but does make the normal contact calls.

Update: 9/07/09
This little man is our comedian. He will tell you if he's mad by shaking his rope toy, If asked "are you mad" he will either come to his cage door for a head scratch or go for his rope. He interacts on his terms. Fretz is not a loud conure, yet he demands you attention and will get it by being a clown. He will eat anything offered to him and play endlessly with his toys. Fretz is full feathered but realize he is what he is, a beautiful bird that may never be a cuddler, if your looking for entertainment and interaction Fretz is the one for you.

Aug. 23, 2009
Fretz continues to do well, he loves to socialize with people but strictly on his terms. He will let you know if your late with his dinner and he loves anything offered to him. He is full feathered and will make a beautiful addition to any home that can accept him on his terms.

Fretz is a beautiful, full feathered bird with a strong personality. He is doing well in his foster home, eating everything they give him and coming around nicely.
Despite being a Conure, Fretz is not a very loud bird. He can have his moments but he is not squawking all day like some birds can do. His noise level is very tolerable. He loves to be out of his cage and is very eager to be w/ humans. He has a good appetite and loves to share dinner with us. He does not seem to be bothered by the other birds in the house or the dogs and cats here either. Seems to tolerate children but it is not know if he is hand tame with them. He will test you so you need a strong hand and know how to show him that you are the boss.

The best home for Fretz will be one that has previous knowledge of birds with strong personalities.

Update 30 January 2008
Fretz is a Mitred Conure and has not changed much in personality since coming here w/ the exception that he seems to be getting a bit attached to me. He really gets excited when I am near him.

Fretz loves to be with people but can not always be trusted. He wants to be out and be held but will turn on a dime and try to bite you, then he is fine again just as quickly. Not sure why he is like this but he is and we just try to be careful when handling him. He really is a sweet bird under the biting. He prefers me to my husband but I do not think it is a preference to females because he seems fine with my son.

Fretz eats the abba/zupreem mix that we give him and will pick at other foods also.

The right home for Fretz would be one w/ some experience with birds that have the propensity to test their humans.

He will be adopted with cage, toys, all supplies and a starter food supply.

This bird may NOT be used for breeding, and there is NO shipping. Located at a foster home in Jackson, NJ.
