While this is just a short list (and there are other great sites out there) there is lots of great information.
Female dogs are adopted more frequently than males. If you only want a female you should check here to see if you may be happy with a male. Why not a boy dog
Also, in rescue we often have the most wonderful dogs, normally the best behaved. They stay in rescue longer than some not as well behaved, why because they are Sr's and not puppies (or young dogs under 3.) Check out these sites and you may find you'd be happier with a Sr, than a young dog.
