More About TOBY

I'VE BEEN ADOPTED-YIPPEEE!!!!

Toby is by far, one of the most lovable, affectionate lap cats that I ever did meet. He loves to be picked up and held like a baby, where he'll just lay in your arms for hours if it were up to him. I was lucky to make his acquaintance while dropping off a rescue cat to be spayed. I noticed him the first time all comfy cozy in his nice fuzzy bed, he looked a little depressed to me, I assumed his owners had boarded him while they were away on vacation and he was just missing them. But when I saw Toby a second time, a few weeks later in the same cage looking even more depressed, I asked the kennel attendant why he was still there and that's when the story unfolded.

Poor Mr. Toby was left alone and abandoned in the vet clinic's waiting room. Such a shame, but luckily for him it was going to be a new beginning for him since the founder of SWRO and the owner of the veterinary hospital agreed that we will work together to find Toby a forever home. Afterall, this boy surely deserves it as he has lots of love to give.

Out of all the kitties that SWRO has helped, none have pulled our heart strings as much as Toby. We feel that way because he is such a one of a kind, unique kitty cat. He's a cat, but yet he's almost human-baby-dog like. He of course purrs non-stop like a cat, he absolutely loves to be petted and will do anything to keep you rubbing his favorite spot like a dog and also, he loves to be cradled and held in your arms like a little human baby. He is so darn cute, I could just squeeze his cute little tom-cat cheeks. His nickname is now "Sweet-Cheeks"!

Sadly though, Toby is FIV positive and unfortunately for him, not many people understand the disease and jump to many conclusions shunning cats with FIV. Please give Toby a chance at a forever home and adopt him today. I assure you, you will fall in love with this handsome devil's purrsonality. Come see for yourself- set up a time to meet Toby.

Please read more about this misunderstood disease below:

Some Facts About FIV

1. The Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat's immune system over a period of years.

2. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.

3. FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.

4. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens.

5. The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, unneutered tomcats.)

6. A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.

7. FIV-positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, keep and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.

This kitty shows no signs of any illness and will almost certainly live a long, healthy lfe. All he needs is someone to give him a chance.
