More About Updike

Updike has his own video, click here to watch!

Updike was found as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past life. But he was definitely someone’s dog at some point; he already knew “sit” and “shake” when he came to us, and he is housebroken and good with cats.

He’s a very good boy, and very loving! He gives his foster parents lots of kisses, and even tries to crawl up into their laps for hugs sometimes. He plays hard with his foster brother and sister, and he can run like a rabbit around the yard with them, but mostly he prefers to chill out in the house, ideally near where the people are.

Updike is quite stout at 76 pounds, and quite strong, and like most Sibes has very strong ideas of his own, all of which we found out the first time we gave him a bath and brushing (we’re working on it).

Despite that, he’s such a good dog that his foster parents are hoping some of Updike will rub off on their own dogs. He has been in foster care for only five days, but so far he doesn’t seem to dig, or jump on people, or jump (too much) on the furniture. Certain huskies we know could learn a thing or two from Updike!

All of our dogs are housebroken, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and crate trained (or working on it!) They are living in homes with foster families, not in a shelter or kennel.

Updike is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
