He has the most gorgeous yellow/green eyes and he is such a sweet boy!!!

Arrival story:Hershey was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. Waggin Tails pulled Hershey from the shelter so he would not have to be euthanized.

Approximate age:Hershey is about 1 year of age and about 80 pounds.

Personality:Hershey is now in a foster home and doing well. He has a lot of energy, and is working on his basic training and manners. Hershey gets along with other dogs, and loves to play with them. He also enjoys fetching a Kong, tennis ball, or whatever you throw. He seems a bit interested in cats, and leaves them alone for the most part and has even taken a playful liking to his Siamese roomate.
Hershey, being the big boy that he is, would benefit from an obedience class or two. He seems to want to please everyone, and seems to learn rather quickly. He is crate trained - goes in very nicely and he is potty trained as well. He LOVES to swim, and even enjoys water being sprayed on him. He does good on a leash, but only when on a special collar. Being a lab, he will likely continue to have this high energy level for at least a few years, and may need some work in this area for a few weeks.

Forever home:His ideal home would have a dog that likes to play, and has lots of energy. Because of his size, he may not be ideal with young or small children. Have a place to expend his energy - a large yard (preferably fenced in) and/or regularly visiting a dog park would be excellent for him. He is already neutered, and up-to-date on his shots. Overall, Hershey is a young, happy, friendly energetic fellow who needs to a way to burn off his energy, and learn some new training and obedience skills.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at Petco in Novi (on Novi Rd south of 12 mile) or Petco in Farmington Hills (Orchard Lake south of 14 mile). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
