More About SOPHIE~PENDING!

Update: Oct 29th, 2007 STATUS: ADOPTION PENDING! Sophie is back up for adoption. Sophie has not been getting along well with the other resident dog and needs a home where she is the only dog in the home. Sophie also needs "leadership" to help her understand the rules. Sophie was recently adopted by a family who lives in Maple Bay. This home can not keep her so we are actively searching for a new home for Sophie.

This is sweet, sweet Sophie. Sophie has had a real rough time. She has medical issues (acute glaucoma) and as a result lost an eye. She also HAD gastro-intestinal issues but appears to be under control with prescription food. To top it off, her owner became critically ill and surrendered her to her vet in Kitsilano to have her PTS as she thought no one would want a dog like Sophie. The vet contacted us for help.

Sophie is a very smart and energetic dog. If you meet her you will love her. She has lots of life and love left to give. Older dogs can be such an pleasure to be around. Sophie is 8 yrs old, spayed and weighs 68 Lbs. Sophie is overweight but with regular exercise she will begin to thin out. Unlike most Vizsla's her tail was left in-tact.

Her remaining eye is sensitive to infection and may require regular drops to keep it from flaring-up. If she remains on the prescribed diet her gastro-intestinal issues should remain under control according to the vet. As you can see the vet did a wonderful job removing the eye and closing it up. We were told by the vet that Sophie does resource guard. With this, it is best she go to a home without YOUNG children until these issues are dealt with. She pulls on-leash which is understandable as exercise has not been available to her. A little bit of training will help make this dog a perfect companion.
