More About Molly Jane

Molly Jane's Meet Your Match Feline-alityTM is PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR (Purple)

I'm working undercover to keep an eye on you and your household. You may not even know you're under surveillance. I can vanish into thin air if anyone or anything interferes with my investigation. If you need a cat who knows how to stay out of trouble and will always keep your secrets, I just might take your case.

MOLLY JANE came in with her sister Lotus Blossom and these two ladies would love to be adopted together. Molly Jane is a bit shyer than her sister, but gentle and affectionate.

Molly Jane and Lotus Blossom are tortoiseshells which means they have a mix of colors resulting in a cat with patches of red and black, chocolate, or cinnamon. Molly Jane's coat is predominately black with a patch of tan on her neck. Lotus Blossom has more of a mixture of black, tan, red, and chocolate.

Adopting two cats together is twice the fun and just as easy as adopting one. This way they have a playmate to keep them company and help them feel safe in a new home. Molly Jane and Lotus Blossom are ready for their new home.

Tortie Fact and Folkore

  • Torties are not your average cats.
  • The Celts believed that a tortoiseshell cat was good luck in a home.
  • The English believed that torties could remove warts if you rubbed their tail on the wart during the month of May.
  • In Scotland and Ireland, a stray tortoiseshell cat settling in one's home is a good omen.
  • To dream of a tortoiseshell cat means luck in love.
  • In Normandy, seeing a tortoiseshell cat foretold death by accident.
  • Edgar Allen Poe was devoted to his tortoiseshell Catarina. She inspired his story "The Black Cat". She sat with his wife during her illness and frequently sat on his shoulder when he wrote.
  • Torties are almost always female. This is because the genes for color reside on the X chromosome, so for a cat to have multiple colors (i.e., black and orange), they must have two X chromosomes, therefore making them female.
  • Pretty Molly Jane is waiting to meet you at the Clackamas Petsmart store. Adoption hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4 or by appointment. Come meet all the wonderful adoptable cats and kittens from Cat Adoption Team!
