More About Argentina
Argentina was left behind when her owners moved in November of 2006. It’s strange that they left her behind after bringing her here from Argentina, also that they left her behind while she was pregnant. After being abandoned, Argentina was too anemic and dehydrated to produce enough milk to keep her kittens going, and they had to be given to volunteers to bottlefeed.
Argentina is three years old now and she is a very big girl. It’s good that she lives with cats that are her size or bigger, because she has a tendency to pick on other cats. When feeding time comes, we sometimes have to feed her in a cage so the other cats can get their fair share without being harassed. A home with an experienced cat owner committed to feline weight management would be just right for Argentina. She can be affectionate and does seek attention, but she’ll also make it clear when she wants to be left alone. She gets territorial about her favorite places to relax, and over food. For these reasons, a home with children over the age of eight, who can understand that not all cats want to be cuddled, would be best. A home where Argentina could be the only cat, or where she could live with just one other male cat, would be an ideal living arrangement for her.
Argentina would love to be spoiled rotten and have all the attention she wants, and we would love to see her get the home that fits her needs. She has been added to the My Last Hope program for this reason, which means that her adoption fee is waived and her post-adoption medical expenses through Highland Heights Animal Hospital are paid by the League.
All cat adoptions are $75. All cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS and are vet-checked and vaccinated. We spay or neuter all cats at 10 weeks of age. If you select a younger kitten, there is an additional $40 deposit payable at time of adoption, which is refunded upon proof of spay/neuter.
For information on our adoption procedure, hours of operation and directions to the shelter, click on the League for Animal Welfare link under the cat's photo.
Argentina is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
