More About Lucy
Lucy was abandoned by her former owners on a busy street in town. She was so afraid, and kept going in circles looking for her owners. She was even hit by a car, then got up and started running off in search of her people. When she arrived at the shelter she was just skin and bones. It was obvious she also had lots of puppies during her life. Her ears were cropped by her former owners which many people don't like but don't let that hold you back from this sweet girl! Those same people that cropped her ears probably bred her, sold her pups, and then dumped her without looking back, on the busiest street in town!!!! Lucy has filled out and completely recovered from being hit by a car. She is a large sized dog who weighs about 55-60lbs. She is thought to be about 5 yrs old and she is housebroken. She has a medium to high energy level. So she will need at least two long walks everyday but she would do well with runs also. Lucy is VERY strong and will need to be controlled/walked by an adult at all times. Due to her strength we recommend she go to a home with kids over the age of 6 because she may knock them over accidentally. She could definitely benefit from basic obedience classes and is very smart. While at the shelter she has learned sit and takes her treats very gently, this is great for anyone who has kids. She warms up to people she does not know extremely quickly and just loves all the attention she can get from people. So a home with frequent guest would not be an issue but good for Lucy as it means more attention for her!!!!! Lucy does have a high prey drive so she needs to go to a home with no small animals (under 25lbs). She is not a barker in the office so we don’t expect her to be a barker in her forever home either. Also with the proper exercise and something to mentally stimulate her while your gone Lucy should be fine home alone while you’re at work or running errands. She is dog aggressive so she MUST be an only dog. She is usually fine on walks so the aggression is manageable. Just so it is clear dog aggression is in no way linked to human aggression so this should not be a concern for her new family. Lucy is exceptional with everyone she meets at the shelter and will only continue with that behavior. When she is truly excited around new or familiar people she does a little two-step dance of glee! We’d like Lucy to go home with a confident leader and we’d love it if her future owner(s) did some research on her breed but its not required. Lucy is a wonderful dog just waiting for the right person to come and get her. Is that person you??? If you think so please call and make an appointment to come by and take a look at this beautiful, sweet sweet girl!
