More About BUDDY

Please contact Holly (homeward@ellijay.com) for more information about this pet.

Homeward Bound Pet Rescue Inc. of Gilmer County P.O. Box 792 Ellijay, GA 30540 Website: www.homeward.petfinder.com Email: homeward@ellijay.com

We are estimating that Buddy was born around 7/05 and is 4 years old. He wandered up to one of our volunteers house in 12/06 and he has been at our kennel since then (2 1/2 years!). No one ever wants the black dogs...

Buddy is a black full grown male lab mix that weighs 63 pounds. He loves people and kids and plays great with them. He loves to chew his bones and lay on the couch with you.

Buddy did have a problem with dog aggression and used to not play well with some other dogs at our shelter. He has since gotten over all of this and plays well with all of the dogs now! He would probably do best as an only dog at first but may also be fine with a submissive female of the same size or a playful male of the same size. We are unsure of his history and his past dog aggression could be a result of him being attacked as a puppy, insecurity, living with multiple dogs at the shelter, being raised as part of a large litter, traumatic experience or abuse. He is very outgoing and playful!

He was out at a foster home with a mother and 2 children for 2 weeks in the past and did wonderfully. He is at our kennel now. The only issue was that they lived in an apartment complex and when the kids walked Buddy he would become aggressive towards other dogs walking near him. It would be best for Buddy to be an only dog to begin with or with one other dog that he can be slowly intoduced to. He may need some postive reinforcement and trainng and this can include a head halter, pronged collar, Baskerville muzzle, distraction, positive reinforcement, increasing exercise, becoming the pack leader, crating during meal time, feeding him after you eat and obedience training. With the proper training and patience his situation can change and his life could be happier.

Buddy desperately needs a foster home and a permanent home. Out of all the dogs we have he has been here the longest. Adoption Donation is $145.00 which is very negotiable since he has been here so long.

He is a big love bug!

Please give him a chance. We will let you take him on a trial basis.

This dog is current to age on vaccines, dewormed, neutered, on monthly flea preventative and heartworm tested negative and started on heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $145.00 which is negotiable.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog! Don't shop when you can adopt!

BUDDY is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
