More About Adam

Adam is a very sweet Mountain Dog/Shepherd mix who is a parvo survivor. He was left sick and abandoned with his sister outside our gate several years ago. Adam's sister found a home shortly after recovery, however, Adam's stay with us has been to long. Adam does enjoy people and longs to simply "belong" in this world. We would love to see Adam finally placed in a home setting that he has missed his entire life. Adam will need a safe home in a rural area, or a fenced yard to keep him safe as he has never been housed without fencing and will not understand the dangers of a road. If you would like to meet our Adam - please contact us today.
He is now a big, strong, happy BOY! Basics
How old is Adam? DOB: Late December 2006
Is he house trained? Yes - using dog door and trained for a Kennel for sleeping.
Does is walk well on a leash? yes - however, Adam is a Parvo Surviver. He was treated along with his sister beginning 1/11/07 - Both dogs recoverd well. Lacy, the sister has been in a home since puppyhood. Adam limps occasionaly on one front leg. Leg has been checked, x-rayed several times and no know cause can be pinned down - possibly Parvo related. More often than not, Adam runs and plays about and you never notice a limp - when we do see issues the method of treatment is Dearmax - 1/3 tablet for a few days until he is back to normal - the vet assures us the limp does not cause Adam any pain. All medical records and x-Rays would accompany Adam upon adoption.
Is he socialized with other dogs? (i.e. leash-free dog park) Yes - but not leash free - parks such as this are not located in our area. Adam love all dogs - he is submissive not a leader.
How does he react to cats? He has never had an issue. Adam was accepted by The SPCA of Upstate New York and transported there at 5 months old. After 2 months and no adoption, he was transported back to our care.
Adam is healthy, fully vaccinated, altered, receives heartworm prevent and Frontline monthly.

Adam is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
