Black Labrador Retriever [Mix]

Patti is approximately 2 year old in these pictures taken August 16, 2008. She is extremely loyal and loving. Patti lives to be with people and get attention. She loves cuddling up with you or lying close. Patti does well on a leash, is good in the car, and was working on being housetrained before she came back to the shelter. She enjoys being active with you and going on long walks or playing ball. Still working on bringing it back.
When it gets hot, there is nothing she enjoys more than jumping in the pool we have for the dogs. Tummy rubs are also one of her favorite things.

Because Patti wants to be your everything and your one and only, we are recommending that Patti go to a home without other dogs, or a home with only one other dog who is her size or larger. She has done great with every dog we have put her with at the shelter. Patti loves to run the yard and play with other dogs. She had some issues with smaller dogs at her foster home. Patti just doesn't want to share her people with other dogs so she pushes her way to be close to them.

Patti did not appear to have any issues with children of any age when the foster parent took her to the park. However, because she does get jealous for attention, we are not recommending her to a home with small children. Patti does do well with our 7-year old and teen volunteers and is very well behaved for them. One of them held her while we took these pictures. She soooooo loved all the attention.

Patti came to the shelter in December 2006. She was dumped with a note attached to her collar. Here is her story.
Her tag says Patti. The phone number to reach her owner had been disconnected. And the note attached to her collar said 'This is Patti. She is a lab and has had all her shots. She is a good girl. I am just tired of a dog that isn't trainable because she won't stop peeing in the house.' Patti had wandered up to a house in the country that had other dogs playing in the yard. She was a little tired and a little hungry. The owner of the house had noticed her and the note, which had been badly torn. It was barely readable but carried the distinct mark of an unwanted dog.

UPDATE - February 14, 2009:
Patti really had a great time at the Cupid and Canines event at Camp Bow Wow in Bentonville. She just ate up all of the attention and loved all of the tummy rubs. Patti did well with all of the dogs in the play yard, large and small, as long as they did not try to get in her face. She was worn out by the time she got back to the shelter.

UPDATE - February 15, 2009:
Patti was one of the LP dog ambassadors at the PetSmart Adoption Day. She just couldn't get enough of the tummy rubs and loved everyone she met. It didn't matter the age of the person. Patti did growl at a few other dogs when they tried to get in her face or smell her behind too long.
