More About Elsie

ADOPTED 12/15/06: Elsie is now named Lucky, and appropriately so. She flew to her forever home in Seattle! Her new owners are a wonderful couple that adopted one of our very first rescue dogs (a Pointer girl named Dot that flew from Kansas with our dog Oz) 6 years ago. We have adopted over 300 dogs since then! They knew we would adopt them another great Pointer, so they made the trek out from Seattle to make the tough choice of who to bring home. We had a ton of great girls for them to choose from, but Elsie was the lucky chosen one. They decided to name her Lucky since she was the lucky dog, and they were the lucky ones that got to have her. Way to go Miss Elsie! We wish you great times ahead at the dog park and living the spoiled life of an only dog in the city!

FYI: All dogs are located in Williamston, MI which is near Lansing unless stated otherwise at the top of their petfinder listing. We get dogs from all over the country, so we like to list where they came from as their hometown. Also, we have an invisible fence, so any pictures where a dog is wearing an electronic collar is a fence collar (not a bark collar or shock collar).

Name: Elsie

Breed: English Pointer

Size: 45-50 lbs

Color: Liver and White

Age: 1 year old

Hometown: Caro, Michigan

Date Arrived at Pointers From Oz: October 20, 2006

His story: Elsie was a stray at a shelter in northeast Michigan. The shelter was very full and needed to euthanized animals due to space, so we took in Elsie.

Her personality: Elsie is a sweetheart, with moderate energy. Elsie loves to snuggle up for attention.

Other dogs: Elsie is great with other dogs.

Cats: We have not tested Elsie with cats. Typically English Pointers are great with cats. If you have a cat and are interested in Elsie, we would be happy to cat test her for you.

Kids: Elsie would be fine with kids.

Housetraining: Elsie was likely an outdoor dog before she arrived. English Pointers are typically very easy to housetrain though.

Fencing Needs: Elsie would do well with a standard fence or an invisible fence.

Off-leash Potential: Elsie would be good off-leash with some more training.

Hunting Potential: Elsie would probably make a pretty good hunting buddy. We have not tested her on birds yet. If you are interested in hunting in Elsie and her hunting ablility, we would be happy to work with you on testing her out. However, our first priority is to find our dogs wonderful homes. Pointers could care less if they go hunting or not, they just want plenty of outdoor time and families that love them. The vast majority of the Pointers we adopt go to pet homes, only about 1% go to hunting homes (where they are still spoiled family members).

Vet Stuff: Elsie is spayed and has been updated on vaccines. She is current on heartworm and flea preventative.

Adoption Fee: Please click on the Pointers From Oz link on the right of this page for information about our adoption fees

If you are interested in Elsie: If you are interested in talking about Elsie and then coming to meet her, please call Erin at (517) 648-1666. After our phone interview, if you seem like a good match, we can set up an appointment for you to come and meet her. Elsie and I look forward to hearing from you.

Pointers From Oz is in great need of donations. If you would like to donate, please paypal a donation to pointersfromoz@yahoo.com using the button below. Donations are not tax-deductible at this time.

Elsie is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
