More About Pete

FIV
Pete is a very sweet and loving boy! Has had some health issues due to an open cut on his neck - it became necessary to have his front claws removed as with his scratching the area was unable to heal - this situation was unacceptable due to his FIV illness. We now feel really good about his continued progress. All that is lacking is a loving, stable caretaker to brighten his days. Since Pete is FIV+ he will need to be an only cat unless housed with other FIV+ cats, indoors only.
Pete has a great spirit and it would be a true blessing for him to be in a home setting. We are certain a loving home will add so much time to his life. Happiness is everything to FIV infected pets. They have a great will to survive when they know they are loved and have a place where they feel happy. Pete is being considered for foster placement in our area. Our foster program continues to provide all needed vet care - you provide the love! Please understand FIV cats can live years with proper care. Pete is a strong boy, who loves soft voices, cuddling and ear rubs. If you are in the position to help Pete or any of our FIV+ cats, please open your heart and home. With proper care and happiness they can enjoy years without sickness. You may be thinking you could not get attached to a pet who could become gravely ill - but we ask you to think we are the superior beings. We have the ability to bring smiles and secure hearts. This disease is what it is - we do not have the ability to change the diagnosis, but we do have the ability to mend a lonely heart. Search your heart and consider the good you can do! Any time in a home with a family, voices, the sound of music or TV, is a world of exploration which keeps them thriving to live - long, lonely, quiet days in rescue make for sadness and depression. If you have a love for felines - you can and will become strong in their presence! I am certain of this! As I have lived it, taking the chance on a pet that was given less than 30 days to live. After coming into my home with my family he grew stronger daily. Every moment my ill pet purred on my pillow, greeted me at the door, or snuggled in my arms - was the most rewarding moments of my rescue life! And when he passed away, (over 2 years later), I grieved like the world had ended, but the real reality was I knew that for the past two years I was his shining star and made the last years of his life, by far the best! Rescue volunteers can only do so much - we need other supporters, volunteers, and foster homes with everyday people willing to stand up and say "I can make a difference in the life of this animal as he did not ask for this fate!" Consider every purr that you could create! These cats deserve them! If you have taken the time to read this message, you could be the one person to save one cat, and who knows - maybe the cat would save you in some small way.
