More About Dixie

Dixie and her brother Dash(Also listed on this site) are looking for their forever homes. You can read their rescue story below. They are sweet horses with great personalities who would be best adopted by someone who has had experience with horses. Dixie is a beautiful girl who loves people! She has had Natural Horsemanship Training. If you are interested in learning more about these lovely horses Please contact Melissa at melissaspets@aol.com or (803) 230-3648. Thank you for your interest in one of our rescues! :-)
This is Dixie....She is a Grade Quarter Horse Filly around 10 months old. This is her story.....She and her mother were loaded up one evening and taken to a 'Sale' (Livestock Auction) It was very scary there...soon they were taken by their owner into the ring to be seen....The owner said 'I want them to go together, the foal is too young to take away from her mother!' so someone BID on the foal and her mom together.....and they were sold. Before they ever left the ring...the NEW owner said...sell the baby...I don't need her!! At that point Dixie was forcibly taken from her mother. Dixie was sold to another party .....she was transported home along with another 6 month old Foal 'Dash' who was sold that night too. About a week later Dixie and Dash came down with an awful sickness that they had caught at the Auction Barn. Dixie and Dash became very sick and very thin.....The new owners did not have much horse experience....so when a volunteer with Operation CARE approached them about the Horses they were very happy to turn them over to us so that we could get them Fat and Sassy and find them good homes. Dash will have a picture up soon! This has been very costly to get these babies healthy again. Please send donations to help with their bills! They will be put up for adoption when they are totally Healthy! Dixie is the sweetest little girl...loves people....and Dash is also very friendly ,and very mischevious. Will have more pics of Dixie soon too....she is looking great now! PLEASE SEND DONATIONS TO : OPERATION CARE P.O. Box 10703 Rock HIll , SC 29730
