More About McKinna

Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive.
Seeking foster home only.

Beautiful Blue Eyes!

McKinna is a young cat that is feline leukemia +.
Feline leukemia is caused by a retro virus that is spread cat to cat through prolonged contact, bites, and from parent to offspring. McKinna was born with leukemia. Once a cat is infected with FeLV it may live for a few months, a few years or a normal lifespan. Like people living with AIDS, leukemia-positive cats can and do live for years in good health, and can enjoy an excellent quality of life. For this reason, we do not believe in euthanizing cats that may test positive for leukemia. Our leukemia-positive cats are kept isolated from the other cats in the sanctuary, but in every way, they are given a quality life for as long as they live.
Feline leukemia does not affect human beings and is not related to the leukemia’s that affect man. It does not affect dogs. However the disease is transmitted from cat to cat, therefore McKinna must be an only cat, or housed with another leukemia positive cat.

Such as the saying, “ Cats are absolute individuals, with their own ideas about everything. Including the people they own.” So is true for McKinna. Meet her once, remember her forever. McKinna never meets a stranger. She is a happy, playful, well-adjusted young cat that has come so far from the ill baby kitten we rescued. Don't let those dazzling blue eyes fool you - there is more to note about McKinna. As she will tell you, “I haven’t even a tail, but watch this trick!” It is her spunk and attitude that make the cat here. She is always up to something. She has a personality that we adore and we want so badly for her to feel loved and worthy of the life she so wishes to embrace. McKinna is a dear cat. We are hoping to find her placement in a foster home with a true owner.
