Late news: ROSCOE had his fifteen minutes of fame, for he was shown on MSNBC in a story about what breeds to recommend to President Elect Obama for the FIRST PUPPY. We're getting emails from all over about him, but, alas, nothing from Barack as yet. We'll keep hoping. Meanwhile Roscoe is basking in his fame, he's a TV star, so he's telling all his fellow denizens here.

Roscoe used to be Rozenkrantz, but not any more. The longer name came from desperation, for when Rosco came to us he had a buddy, to whom he seemed to be very much attached. So the pair, Rosenkrantz & Guildenstern came to mind. The two have since found new friends and don't seem so bonded, and they can go to separate homes. Rosenkrantz became Roscoe, but any name will do, for he won't tell us his real name. He is a b&w shih tzu, a little longrer and taller than most. He was pretty ferocious, or seemed so, when he came in, but now he's been here a while he's let down his ferocious front and can be really sweet. He's full of energy, always bouncing around, and an eager participant in whatever new event seems to absorb the kennel' s attention, but he also loves to hang out on a little ledge and look down in disdain at the other dogs.. A very handsome fellow, with those charming eyes, just waiting for the right shih tzu knowledgeable person to link up with him. Definitely not a lapdog, but a real buddy and pal to someone who can put up with his quirks and bluster He is 5 years old now, and about 18 lbs..

ROSCOE can be seen Saturdays, 1 to 3 p.m., at Pet Valu, in the Nelson’s Corner Shopping Center, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. If you need directions get them from www.mapquest.com , or use your GPS if you are so fortunate to have one. Prospective adopters should hopefully live within the radius of a couple of hours drive from Princeton, NJ, to make home visits easier for us, but we’re not strict about the distance if we think the match is a good one between the dog and the new family.
