More About courage

A very courageous mom managed to survive Hurricane Katrina although not without some injuries I am sure. She was a star and even managed to hang on to the babies she was carrying. This little cutie is one of those babies. As you can see, she is blind. No one wants to put this little pup down and it is our hope that an appointment with an eye specialist and some surgery, this little one might receive the gift of sight. Pups like this are all over Louisiana and they are just waiting for people to step up to the plate and give them a chance to live a happy life. Update: February 5, 2006

Little courage (aka: Honey) has arrived. She is an absolute sweetie. She has an appointment on Monday at the eye specialist to see if there is something that can be done to restore her eyesight. Update February 8, 2006:

Our little girl is currently in hospital with an intestinal virus. The next few days are a critical time for her and we are praying for a full recovery. Please contact us if you would like to help.

Update: February 22, 2006

Courage aka Honey is doing a bit better. She is putting on some weight and is beginning to act a bit more like a happy puppy. She manages to find things to chew and loves her stuffies. Chicken, Chicken, Chicken is her favorite food and her favorite words to hear. She has been put on some drops for her eyes in hope that it will lessen the pressure and perhaps help her to avoid surgery. Please continue to hold her in your prayers. We will keep you posted on her as often as we have some new information. It is amazing to be around such a wee dog that is so full of life despite all that she has to overcome.

Upedate: February 28, 2006

Still on her eye drops to see if we can lessen the pressure in her eyes. She is very much a puppy, doing all that puppies do. Amazing little girl. We are still awaiting results of some specialized tests to see if we can pinpoint the cause of her blindness. If it is fungal, she would have to undergo some strong treatment for it. She has put on weight and is now a plump 9.2 lbs. She has quite the little appetite and loves her stuffies, little kong, and musiclal duck. We will be posting more pictures and information soon.

Update March 3

Courage's fungal test came back negative (YAY) but will need to go back to the specialist for further tests to see if the swelling in her eyes has gone down and to determin what is causing this.We will keep everyone updated on her condition and as to when Courage will be begin her search for a forever home

March 27, 2006: Courage is living up to her name and now flies up the 10 stairs to the entrance way. We are still using the drops in her eyes and continue to pray for the miraculous... her sight. The specialist will reacess her eyes in a month or so. In the meantime, we are also going to try some homeopathy as well.

If you would like to donate to her care please see our homepage on petfinder.com which lists the many ways to donate to her care.

Update: April 12, 2006:

Courage continues to do well. We are continuing with her eyedrops and will meet with the eye specialist in about 3-4 weeks. We will put up some new pictures shortly. Our little girl is growing! Would the person who took all the pictures of Courage please contact us. Our computer deleted it for some reason. Thank you

Update: May 13, 2006: One of the 1atatime Rescue Directors is going to keep Courage for a while and help her to learn some basics in obedience as well as keep watch on her eyes. We will reacess the status of this gal in a month or so.

courage is up-to-date with routine shots.
