More About Katie

Katie was released to Keeshond Rescue in October of 2005. Her previous family lived in Ohio. Through the efforts of many caring individuals she came to RI.

Katie liked to be near me when ever possible. She also initiates playing with one of our other rescues and several where she went to be fostered playmate.

When Katie came into Rescue she was an unregulated Diabetic. Katie found a family that loved her for the sweet, beautiful girl she is. She only required morning urine testing and insulin shots twice a day after meals. She was Very Good at taking her shots and they were easy to give with a little practice. Obtaining a urine sample was a breeze and the test took only 30 seconds. Total time for obtaining sample, testing and giving insulin is less than ten minutes twice a day. Her insulin was very inexpensive and available at Wal-Mart.

Katie was affectionate and wanted to be with her family. She was an excellent "Alarm" dog, letting you know when anyone was near. She prefered a calm household.

She passed away recently after a year and a half in her new home. During that time she made many friends and had a new playmate and a sleep buddy. She is sorely missed by her family and us.

Never be afraid to adopt a special needs or senior Kees. Every Kees, no matter how old and special needs to know they are loved. The joy and love you will receive is more than worth it. We know.
