More About Pebbles

Pebbles is a 10-11 year old mini Aussie/Toy Terrior mix who weighs 25-30 lbs. Pebbles is a spirited senior patiently waiting for a home to call her own. She doesn't know how to walk - only happily scramble and scurry. Show her a rubber squeak toy, and she'll follow you anywhere. She is friendly and loyal without being demanding. She will lie at your feet, beside your bed, or outside a closed door where you are without causing a fuss. She just wants to be near you. She ignores cats but is uneasy and sometimes defensive with other dogs, doesn't join in doggie play, and would do best as the only dog. Pebbles is housebroken and crate trained, loves playing with her glow ball or rubber squeak toy (fuzzy ones she will chew), and going for walks. Most of her training up to the present has been to get her over her fear of being hurt by someone. She will need continued training in basic obedience. She is food-motivated, which helps. She knows the commands Leave It (which she always obeys) and sit (which she sometimes obeys). Stay and Down have proven harder for this bouncy senior baby.

When Pebbles first arrived, she suffered from a heartworm infestation which has been successfully treated. She takes a low dose of inexpensive prednisone for a slight cough left from her treatment. She originally seemed unfamiliar with indoor living and displayed fear when voices or hands/arms were suddenly raised as if she were anticipating punishment. Pebbles has come a long way, is much more relaxed, has learned to expect her share of the treats, but at times can still be frightened by loud voices or what she considers to be threatening movements. If you can see past her earlier, obviously painfully sad life experiences, Pebbles will make a loving and devoted pet for a gentle, patient, and understanding people parent.
