More About SCARLETT

Scarlett is a young longhaired female about 3 years old, almost certainly the sister of the young orange male listed as Avery, who was recently adopted. Both belonged to an elderly lady who had to be put in a nursing home. Her home was condemned and the cats had to be removed or they were to go to the pound. Scarlett issweet and a little shy at first, but but will quickly warm up. She and Avery were thin and not in good condition when we first got them, but they soon blossomed unbelievably, gained weight and their fur, which at first looked almost short, is now luxurious and persian or Maine Coon-like. They will need to be brushed and groomed often or they will mat. Scarlett has very pretty coloring - a sort of light brown tabby-torti with wide striping and ginger/red tones and a little beige. The cats were more or less starving for a while, but all 8 are now doing well. Bloodwork done on these cats was basically normal. They were just a bit stressed out by the circumstances at the time. Scarlett doesn't seem bothered by other cats, but she isn't really close to any of them and seems to prefer her own company. They have never lived with dogs and we don't know how they'd do with them. In addition to needing someone with experience with Maine Coon or persian-type fur (or willing to learn to take care of it properly). She would probably do best in a quiet home without children. We regret that we cannot afford to return long distance calls. We give preference to Columbia, SC metro area adopters but might consider those in other areas of SC or perhaps a neighboring state if they meet our requirements and can provide the right home for Scarlett. Long distance adopters should e-mail us, but please be aware that we are unable to check e-mail every day. Others may contact us at 803-798-7285 and answer the questions on our machine.
