El Refugio Animal Sanctuary relies soley on the generosity of others, as we receive no assistance from the Mexican government. All monetary donations to El Refugio are tax-deductible, as we are a stateside registered 501C3 non-profit charity. (See our shelter webpage for more info). We now accept online donations thru PAYPAL - just click on the link below: It is very easy to bring pets back to the states. All you need is a health certificate stating the animal is free of communicable diseases and vaccinations are up to date. Airline regulations vary as to which carriers allow pets to fly in the cargo area, as most don't allow it during the hotter weather months, so you would need to contact the airlines prior to making adoption arrangements. Carriers for animals traveling onboard (under 15 lbs) or in the cargo hold are available for purchase locally, and we would be more than happy to assist you with all the details. Just ask!!
