Westleigh aka NATCH Nasa's Big Silly JH, AX, AXJ, CGC is NOT up for Adoption. He was- however- a Pointer who was a rescue at 5 months old and with proper training and love and devotion from his adoptive Mom- the most amazing pet and companion I could have ever dreamed of. Since his passing on February 2nd, 2007 a

Life is short- hug your dog.
In an attempt to try and get more foster homes in the Chicago area- I am posting up Wes as the poster Pointer for Illinois Birddog Rescue. He is quite the over achiever in the Field and in Agility- but he is also a couch potato and the easiest dog in the home like most of the dogs we rescue. He is more than a "Bird-dawg", and has proven over and over that a Pointer can thrive in the home environment, make a fantastic loving pet AND he does not need his testicles to Point birds in the field.
Fostering a dog for IBR can be quite the rewarding experience. Seeing a dog change from being a timid and perhaps abused or neglected dog turn into a confident loving dog ready for adoption- is a wonderful thing.
We at IBR have quite the support group- we provide all the help you need including a Yahoo group where folks can email each other and ask for help- or past adopters can share their success stories. IBR pays for all the vetting expenses before a dog is ready for adoption. All we ask our foster homes to do is take care of the food and basic training and treat their foster dog as one of their own. We can also lend out a cage for crate training and house -breaking. We also have several trainers on hand for advise.
Our foster homes and adopters gather frequently at many of the safe fenced in dog parks in the Chicago area. Pointers as a rule- enjoy the company of other Pointers and Setters. My goal as the President of IBR is to try and place as many unwanted homeless Pointers and English Setters into happy safe homes in the Chicagoland area and Mid-west.
If you would like to foster for IBR- please call Lisa at 630-694-1359 or please fill out our online foster application
For the safety of our rescue dogs- foster homes and adoptive homes need to have fenced in yards.
IBR Needs HELP!! P is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
