Lost/Found Pet Notes

More About SAVE- DESTINY

Destiny should have been a beautiful healthy, tan & white 1 year old female Cocker Spaniel. In our eyes, she surely is. But life has not been kind for our little Destiny. Instead of knowing a loving home, Destiny has known neglect and abuse from people who should have been protecting and loving her. Sadly, this precious Angel weighs only 15 pounds and that is only because she is emaciated.

On Thursday night, February 10th I received a phone call from the local shelter if I would be able to take a young female Cocker Spaniel they believed was hit by a car and suffered a fractured jaw. Of course we agreed. It was late, and the shelter was closing so I was told to pick her up the following morning. The vet at the shelter felt she was in excruciating pain so she was given pain medication to keep her comfortable for the night. We immediately rescued her the following day. Boy were we surprised to see this little Angel’s injury. Her mouth was bleeding and it was quite evident she had sustained a serious injury to her jaw. Destiny had to be wrapped in a blanket and carried. We rushed her to our vet for immediate medical attention. Her entire body including her head and jaw were x-rayed for fear of internal bleeding and other possible injuries. The x-rays revealed that her jaw was broken and also very badly infected that her entire body smelled of infection. This injury had to be at least one week old. There was no evidence of any trauma therefore the vet believes this horrific injury was caused mostly likely by being repeatedly kicked in the face or hit with an object such as a bat. I can’t believe anyone could be that cruel and heartless to do this to such a precious, little Angel likes Destiny. We are, trying so desperately to save her. Destiny is now on IV antibiotics, fluids, vitamins in addition to injectable pain medication. She is being kept on a warming blanket to keep her frail body warm. It is impossible for Destiny to eat, so she is being fed small portions of baby food and she is only able to lick very little amounts.

To make matters worse, the bone in her jaw is very badly infected that she now will now need a bone graft in addition to the surgery to repair her jaw. An orthopedist is being called in by our vet to perform this difficult yet costly surgery. The estimate we were given is $ 3,000.00 just for the surgery. It does not include the treatment she is receiving now or the aftercare she will need in the hospital while she is recovering. Some may say we should put Destiny “out of her misery” but we can’t! When Destiny looks at you with her big innocent golden brown eyes, you can see the sadness & suffering this sweet Angel has endured during her young life but if continue to look, you can also see a little sparkle still left in her eyes, of a sweet loving baby that is just waiting to be loved & cherished, but sadly never was. We do not want Destiny to die thinking she was destined to be inflicted with such pain and inhumane treatment. We want Destiny to live so she can experience the love and kindness she was truly meant to receive. Please help us give Destiny that life. We can not accomplish this alone. We need your help! We are a small Cocker Spaniel rescue group that must rely solely on donations, whether through adoption or simple generosity from the public. Given our limited resources, we are willing to go into further debt just to save Destiny. We are in desperate need of donations to “Save Destiny” and we are reaching out to everyone for Help & Prayers. Please help us to “Save Destiny” if you can!

Our heartfelt thanks,

Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue.
