HERE'S WHAT HIS ADOPTER HAS TO SAY:
We are so thankful for Huey's entrance into our lives! Eight or so months ago we adopted Daisy (formerly Melanie) from your incredible organization and realized pretty soon afterwards that we wanted her to have a companion. Through your guidance, love, and patience, our lives finally merged with Huey's. Huey is such an open, joyful, trusting, and intelligent dog! He is attentive to his humans and his Daisy...and has fit into the rhythm of our home beautifully. His goofy puppiness, silly sounds, warm eyes, and consistently wagging tail brighten our days. Our boy is so eager to please and learn new > commands....what a pleasure! Aside from enjoying our relationship with him, we get the most joy from watching he and Daisy play. They play alllll day long, inside and out. Thankfully, Daisy (a mature 2-year old) is very patient with his puppy energy, and she has welcomed him lovingly into her world. They follow each other around, greet each other with kisses, and snuggle in their quiet moments.
Thank you Hedgesville Hounds for putting your hearts and resources into these creatures!! Thank you Patti for being such a great foster mom....Huey loves to show off all that he learned from you! And Susan...words could never really capture how amazing you are. It is your guidance, love, and patience that brought us all this joy.
Huey's Original Petfinder Listing
Huey happily wandered onto the property of two of our directors, who have a farm. They found him attempting to make friends with their normally extremely crabby donkey. Although he has been known to paste dogs who have gotten overly familiar, the donkey was either charmed by Huey's innocent friendliness or stunned by his audacity, so our little guy remained unharmed.
Every day we grow more entranced by this happy guy's excellent personality. He has quickly caught on to the housebreaking routine and is uncomplicated in his desire to please. He epitomizes the characteristics we associate with a yellow lab: he is friendly, loving and playful -- he loves to play fetch. He gets along with other dogs and will administer kisses to willing recipients.
We have all been absolutely charmed by Huey, whom we named after the cartoon character Baby Huey, a large yellow duck, who, like Huey, is a "glorious fellow with a shade of yellow" who greets each day optimistically, knowing things will work out in the end.
