More About MERCY

Mercy is a young (about a year old) tame longhaired male tabby who joined a feral colony in the Vista area. He was bone thin and starving, one of his eyes was severely injured, and he had half his hair missing - lots of naked pink skin - and what hair was left was terribly matted and so full of flea dirt, it resembled tar. He wanted to eat, but at first couldn't seem to. A few days after he was rescued and taken to the vet and could eat again, he began to excrete styrofoam and what appeared to be rubber. All his medical tests came back negative - there doesn't appear to be anything wrong that would cause him to be in the shape he was found in, so we can only conclude that perhaps he was shut up somewhere, either accidentally or deliberately. Mercy was neutered, his matted hair shaved off, and once he put on weight he had surgery to remove his damaged eye (you hardly notice now there was ever anything wrong), and has made a good recovery. His fur has grown back in. Mercy is very sweet, and seems so glad to have been rescued. He makes biscuits and starfish paws in the air, and he loves a nice fleecy blanket to knead, and just purrs up a storm. He is quite playful in surroundings where he feels comfortable. If only he could talk, what a tale he would be able to tell! We would love to know how he came to be where he was in the condition he was in, but we can only guess. At least he is safe now, and all he needs is a loving permanent home in which to spend the rest of his life happily ever after. When he had his eye surgery, it was found that bones around the eye were broken, so we believe a person hit him with something. He does have a sort of residual snuffle from time to time due to the damage to his sinuses.
Home without children (< 5 yrs old)

MERCY is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
