More About Lady

Lady has been adopted! Here's what her adopters told us:
Hello !!

My family and I adopted "Lady" from your organization one year ago next month. We are truly blessed to have Lady in our lives !! She has been the most wonderful companion from day one. She is a love bug, she is well behaved and is absolutely perfect in our home, even while we are away during the day. She has become a steadfast member of our family and we can't imagine life without her. She is enjoying all of the things that a family member should enjoy - a warm bed (a big, fluffy pillow), good meals (Science diet and treats thrown in for dessert) and plenty of love and playtime (tennis balls are her favorite). She also loves to "talk" to our new neighbors - the cows on the farm next door. Actually, I believe that she would love to be let loose to chase them around a bit, but we keep a very watchful eye !! :-)

Thank you for all that you do for each dog in your care. Your written descriptions are wonderful (Lady's was right on !!) and the foster parents you choose are obviously committed to ensuring that these furry friends are well taken care of until they find their forever home. Lady's foster mom was Heather - if you are able, would you please let her know that Lady is doing well !!

Take care for now and we will definitely be in touch when we are ready to add another four-legged friend to our family.

Here's her original Petfinder Listing!

Lady came to the Hedgesville Hounds rescue through the commitment of a fellow rescuer whose heart went out to this wonderful little dog's plight. Lady had been regretfully placed in a shelter by owners who were faced with extreme family difficulties, hoping with all their might as they left her there that she would find a good home. Terrified and bereft without her family, Lady did her best to endure the confines of a small kennel, and no happier or more abjectly grateful dog was ever brought into foster care than our Lady!

If you have pondered how to pick the right dog, knowing only that you want to give a loving home to a dog who truly needs one, adopting Lady will reward your decision many, many times over. Lady will bring to her adoptive human a steadfast and adoring demeanor, and all the gentle means by which she is capable of expressing her loyalty and love. She is a beautifully focused and responsive dog, anxious to please, tactile and physically affectionate.

She is fully housebroken and strong in basic commands like sit and lie down. Alert and playful, she joyfully fetches a ball or tugs dutifully on a rope toy, but we suspect that these recreational avocations are her way of demonstrating that she would do the best she could at any task that engaged a caring human. Indeed, Lady is a very earnest little dog whose attentive and quiet devotion will shine on her adoptive human as warmly as sunshine.

Lady is humbly beautiful with a glossy medium length black coat and a well feathered tail. She is somewhat long-bodied and her legs are slender and refined. Her brown eyes are filled with hope and love, and her gaze is very direct and open. Lady is quite well socialized and her gentle, good manners make her good company in all situations. She is a good eater and a very easy keeper - her slight plumpness is a testimony to her strong and extensive repertoire of pleasing and appropriate behaviors, and her faith that they might sometimes be rewarded with delicious treats.
