More About Nick
HERE'S WHAT NICK'S ADOPTER HAS TO SAY:
<Here is a new picture of Nick all snuggled in bed. He is adjusting great. It took him a few days before he would come out of his crate but now he runs to greet me at the door every night! He is the most affectionate, sweet dog. It just shows what a little patience and caring can do(ok and a little cheese too!). He love to go for long walks and snuggle on the couch. Now that he has my trust, we are working on introducing new people. I hope that eventually he will see that not all people will hurt him. I am so grateful to you for putting us together. Most shelters would have put him to sleep because he bites when he's scared and he used to be scared all the time. Thanks to you a wonderful dog will live a long, happy (spoiled) life.
Nick's Original Petfinder Listing
Nick has many, many stories to tell, and for a little guy, he has some tall tales. Unfortunately, many of them are true, but fortunately, he tells them now in a new and wonderful way!
Prior to coming into foster care, Nick was a very frightened and very hungry dog, torn between defending his smaller chihuahua friend Nora, and competing with her for survival. He met his rescuers chattering and biting and expressing his considerable dismay over life in general.
Nick is now a beautiful testimony to Barbara Woodhouse's book "No Bad Dogs", and he would be happy to share this personal transformation with his new adoptive human.
Although we all agree that Nick speaks very well for himself, we can share the following preliminary information:He is 7 years old. Having known hunger, he is a very good eater, and quite easy to please. He weighs only 4.5 pounds, but they are 4.5 pounds of joy and enterprise.
He is playful and a lap-sitter. He received excellent veterinary care as soon as he came into Hedgesville Hounds custody, and is in wonderful health, neutered, and up to date in all vaccines. He is a trifle wary of new people, (he objects to our using the word "fearful", as he believes he's come beyond that stage), but Nick is definitely worth the brief time of investment needed to win his trust and confidence.
Best of all, Nick's courage and mettle are now evident in how eagerly and responsively he receives attention and petting and praise; it is even more touching to watch him communicate that he deserves those overtures. It took great courage for Nick to trust.
His devoted foster parents can vouch for him, as they have been his sponsors throughout his canine 12 Step Program. He is a little character, a good citizen, and a fine dog.
Nick has been adopted, but if you are interested in finding a wonderful dog of your own, please visit our Web site at http://www.hedgesvillehounds.com.
Nick is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
