More About Evan

EVAN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
HERE'S WHAT HIS ADOPTER HAS TO SAY:
Evan has been *wonderful* - he's a cheerful, playful puppy around the house, and has been living it up at the local dog park. (He now even wanders up to strangers in the park - so long as he's not on a leash, he'll walk around in circles getting closer and closer to them.) He's still a handful when it comes to having guests over, or taking him into really busy places like Old Town Alexandria, but he is a thousand times better. (He'll actually bark every so often when we have guests... we all stop in utter amazement that he actually barked...)
Evan's Original Petfinder Listing

Evan is a hound/shepherd mix puppy, 8 months old, 35 pounds. This incredibly sweet guy, who was found as a stray along with his sister, came to Hedgesville Hounds from a rural high-kill shelter. He had been at the shelter for a while and his time was up and they contacted us to see if we could take him. His sister was adopted, leaving him all alone.

Evan is shy and a bit fearful still, but he absolutely loves being around other dogs. He wants to romp and play with them, follow them, and sleep by them. He’s warming up to humans more and more with each passing day. Evan is working very hard on his housetraining too and he’s 95% there, with minimal accidents. He needs a bit of work on a leash, as he is not used to wearing a collar or being walked on a leash. He is also working on crate training. He enjoys sleeping in his crate and chilling out in there when things get too chaotic for his liking. As with all puppies, Evan will need some obedience classes to learn the basic commands.

You can see it in Evan’s face, that he is a happy-go-lucky guy, but it's clear he still feels a bit lost and slightly woebegone right now (he's still a baby, really), but he will blossom with love from his new home. Our scientists anticipate that he will have extremely high levels of snugglability and cuddle-icity.

Thanks to Evan's "DogFather," Karen B.! Karen's donation will help to defray vet costs for Evan! Evan has been adopted, but if you are interested in finding a wonderful dog of your own, please visit our Web site at http://www.hedgesvillehounds.com.

Evan is up-to-date with routine shots.
