More About Cowbird
HERE'S WHAT HER NEW FAMILY HAS TO SAY:
Here's an update on Droxie, (the Cowbird). She is doing great and weighs in at an amazing 37.4 lbs (on 05/13/04) . She has brought so much fun and laughter to our lives we don't know how we lived without her. She loves to run and run and run and when she is finished running she likes to run some more. She will deliberately run towards an obstacle like a bush just so she can go around it or over it!! You can certainly tell she has Border Collie but her love of the water tells her Lab story as well. She is developing into an even more beautiful pup than we imagined, with her long legs and expressive face. We all love her to pieces and she loves every dog and human she has come in to contact with, she is so social and sweet, not to mention smart (spoken like a true "dog mom"). She has mastered, sit, give me a paw, lie down and is working on stay and come with a lot of success. We are so lucky to have had her taken such good care of by all of you and her mommy, Melanie before she came home to us. Thanks to all for everything!
Cowbird's Original Petfinder Listing: This girl is "Cowbird," one of the Nestlings. We named her Cowbird because she is so much larger than her siblings that she reminded us of a type of bird that slips its eggs into the nests of other birds, knowing that the other bird will feed the baby Cowbird along with its own progeny. Cowbird weighs in at a (relatively) whopping 10 pounds while her siblings mostly weigh around 3-4 pounds. We suspect that she is not actually a changeling; instead we suspect that her father was a labrador, and that she took after him, while her siblings have different, smaller fathers, or take after their mom, a border collie/pointer mix.
