More About Ellie

Ellie is a truly lovely 1 to 1 ½ year old Rhodesian Ridgeback female mix. She has the distinctive ridge hair from behind her head past her shoulders. The other half is most likely yellow lab. She is the size of a lab (about 50 lbs) with a soft short yellow coat with a black nose and snout, black around her eyes and on her ears. Ellie is extremely loving to everyone she meets. She loves attention and giving kisses. She is playful but gentle.

Ellie likes to fetch and will return the toy to you. We are working on her leash skills and she will usually come to you when called and sit on command. She is housebroken, calm in the house and crate trained. We have been told that she is very good with children and loves to play with other friendly dogs. However, we are pretty sure that she will chase cats if given the chance. Ridgebacks were bred to chase lions in Africa so who can blame them? Ridgebacks are supposed to shed little and have little odor so most likely she will have these traits.

Ellie would love to be part of a family that could give her lots of love; children or another dog to play with would be a real plus. A fenced yard would be ideal as she will be prone to give chase if something catches her eye.

Ellie was recently spayed and is up to date on her shots. She is being treated for Lyme’s disease. Ellie now spends the night inside in a homemade crate without any fuss. With some additional training, she should make an affectionate, ideal pet. Won’t you consider adding her to your family? She will love you forever!
