More About Pippin
This little dog was found as a stray by a Bedford County Animal Control officer, who brought her to the County shelter. She appeared to have been 'on the road' for quite some time. She was evaluated and determined to be too vicious for adoption.
We inquired if we might take her into foster care. The shelter staff graciously agreed to let us try to work with this little dog in hopes of saving her life.
"Pippin" was soon seen by a vet. It was discovered that she was already spayed, so at one time in her past she must have had a dedicated owner. Pippin is estimated to be about 7-9 years old. She had extremely advanced dental disease, requiring the removal of 6 teeth. Her matted coat was clipped off and she immediately began to feel and act better. Pippin has been on antibiotics while her mouth heals. Her personality continues to blossom.
After all she has been through, Pippin still can be a bit nervous. We are recommending her for adoption to a home with adults only at this time, and will strongly prefer adults with previous experience handling & successfully training dogs. Pippin seems ok with cats, and would probably be ok with another dog who has a calm personality.
For more information on Pippin, please contact her foster mom, Leslie at lmhandvtm@msn.com
Pippin is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
