More About Samson

Last week a man walked into the city shelter with a friendly 1.5-year-old American Staffie named Samson. The man was going to jail, and there was no one to care for his dog, so he ended up bringing Samson to the ACC. Sam didnt realize what was happening to him and was still smiling when the shelter took this picture. He then scored the highest termperament test possible, showing no aggression towards anyone for any reason, not even dogs who were growly or dominant with him. Samson just wanted to play and would just walk away if they werent interested, in the hopes of finding someone who was. Despite his name, Samson is truly a lover and not a fighter. But even a perfect 10 on his Safer Test couldnt keep Samson safe and within a few days this sweet, gorgeous boy got kennel cough and ended up on the Euthanasia List for lack of space. SFTH put out a desperate plea at the 11th Hour in the hopes of saving Samson's life.

The angels must have been listening and we are so grateful to those generous volunteers who stepped up and paid for Samson's boarding. Who says money cant buy happiness? The following morning, instead of getting a lethal injection, Samson got a second chance at life. We had him transported to a boarding facilty upstate where he is healing beautifully. In another week when he's 100% healthy, we will have him neutered. Sam is an amazing dog, one of the best of the best. He would do great with an active family who will provide him with regular exericse. Trips to a dog run would be heaven on earth for Samson! Another dog or older kids would be wonderful too.

When we recently inquired how Sam was doing, the owner of the boarding facilty started gushing about how beautiful Samson is with his golden coat and white markings and what a wonderful dog we rescued, and how he loves everyone and just wants to play or cuddle up and be close and how he is really just a big happy mush. You could hear in her voice how he just lit up her life. Samson is truly a joy and a very special dog. He weighs about 50 lbs and is up to date on his shots.
