More About Freeway

Please contact Paula (pjstoppler@msn.com) for more information about this pet.

Freeway was brought into a local shelter with a badly shattered elbow, unable to walk. Shelter staff believed he had an encounter with a car...and lost. With no funds available to repair his leg, this little guy was scheduled to be humanely euthanized. One of the volunteers at the shelter, impressed with this little guy's courage in the face of pain, called our rescue for help. We immediately scheduled surgery, and his front leg was amputated at the shoulder about a week ago.

You may think that having only three legs would slow Freeway down. No way! He can keep up with the other dogs in the household, large and small. He knows no fear! He is learning every day how to compensate for his missing leg. He now can jump up on the couch to snuggle with his foster mom. He has learned to maneuver stairs.

Freeway is a very happy dog, who just wants to be near you. His tail is constantly wagging. Freeway is housebroken, crate trained, and current on his vaccinations. He continues his recuperation while in foster care, being spoiled and loved on. He has not had very good nutrition in his past life; his skin is dry and flakey. He shows some hair loss on his legs. He is now being fed high-quality food, and as soon as the stitches come out, he will be pampered with an oatmeal bath to soothe his itchy skin. We anticipate he will be ready for his new home around November 15.

The surgery to amputate his leg has cost our Rescue $800.00. If you are able to help us with this cost, it would be greatly appreciated. Rescued Paws is a 501(c)3 charity according to I.R.S., and all donations are tax deductible. We thank you for your generosity.
