Transferred out, 10-23-09, thank you Ann of Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue (retired) in Sequim, WA! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~In 9-17-09. Rescued from a shelter in Southern Idaho. Sam is an 8 yr old purebred Collie. Sam is the MOST wonderfully behaved, sweetest kindest, most loving and tolerant dog you ever want to meet. He loves kids, cats, other dogs, all farm animals and is totally housebroken and very obedient. That said, Sam is grossly overweight and suffers from hip dysplasia. He came to us matted, filthy and imbedded with cheat grass seeds. We've groomed him, vetted him and started him on a low calorie dog kibble (Eagle Pack adult reduced fat/mixed with Eagle Pack Holistic Senior Care, find a retailer near you at www.eaglepack.com) He is on Glucosamine and Chondrotin( cheap from Costco) as well as an anti-inflammatory/pain med, called Rimadyl and Sucralfrate to coat his tummy. He will most likely need to remain on this the rest of his life. A months supply of all of these meds will come with him. What we are looking for is a dog lover who will be STRICT with his diet, until he loses at least 30#'s and who will walk him (short at first) daily to help rebuild his hindquarter muscles. Surgery on the hips is not reccomended at this time, but could be something to think about in the future, if he's not continuing to be comfortable on his meds. We chose not to put him down at this time in hopes of finding that right someone to help him enjoy his last years on this earth. He could live another 3-5 yrs with the right care. We do realize this is ALOT to ask of someone, but we wouldn't do it if he wasn't the most deserving, kind, loving soul we've ever met.

Sam~ is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
