Wirehaired Terrier, Beagle [Mix]

Katie is a wire haired terrier/beagle with short Corgi legs. Katie is the most awesome dog. She is very low maintenance. She never barks and I mean never unless something very out of the ordinary occurs. So when Katie barks pay attention.

Katie loves women, men and children and other dogs. I am not real sure about cats because she has never been around them. I got Katie from a rescue group in March of 2004. They believed she was 1 or 2 at the time. We went with 2 so that would make her 7 years old.

Katie is extremely submissive. She likes spending time with Princess. She would like to be a lap dog but she is around 30 pounds. She sleeps in her doggie bed at night or under the bed. She loves to be petted and receive belly rubs. She also likes to ride in the car. She has been spayed, is on heartworm prevention and her shots are current until the end of October. It is very hard for us to let Katie and Princess go but we have a friend who is moving in with us because of foreclosure and she is allergic. I will keep Katie and Princess with me until homes can be found.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
