***HOWIE IS ADOPTED AND HAS A BRIGHT , HAPPY FUTURE AHEAD OF HIM.*** Howie is a beautiful pure bred red & white adult border collie of about 2 yrs old. Howie is obsessed with rain drops and catching them ! He is a hoot to watch in the rain and under the eve troughs. He is also crazy about chasing the water hose in the summer. It's great fun and exercise. Howie is a wonderful, active and very attentive boy , who love to give affection and learn new tricks. Howie is very alert and true to his breed...he wants to have a job to do. He loves to play when he is not working, so be sure you have the time & nolage of this breed and can offer Howie an actively involved lifestyle...before you inquire about adopting him. Howie walks perfect on a leash, travels well and is crate trained. Howie is good in the house as well and appears house trained. He is quite taken with a dog friendly siammese cat. They play endlessly togather. Howie gets along very well with other friendly dogs. He is a great dog to take into an off leash dog park or doggie daycare. Howie is very gentle and kind with all people. He is the kind of dog that would be wonderful as a theropy dog , going into senoir homes and hospital. While he is eager to have a job...he has a great "off switch" and can lay and be calm and quiet for hours.... but the second you ask him to move...he is ready go. Howie is not a hyper dog, just very versitile and well balanced. He is a focussed dog and can also be a wonderful "dog sporting partner or herding dog" . there really isn't anything Howie wouldn't excel at. He adores children and is a very soft, submissive personality with all people . His approach is slow and kind, then he leans into our leg for a cuddle and a few sweet kisses. Howie's focus is unbrakeable when you have a ball or toy though...and when given the chance to herd another animal. He keeps a good distance while herding and seems to have a great balance. It appears that Howie has had prior training in herding . He never tries to nip his "stock", but is incredible at moving anything he sets his mind to and he is lightning fast at it! Howie is easy to call off and settle quickly when asked to. This is not a breed for everyone. Howie requires a home that understands and enjoys herding breeds and can provide Howie with an active and full life. This is not a good dog for a 1st time owner, apartment living or a family that works long hours or is in-active. ALWAYS RESEACH THE BREED/BREEDS YOU ARE LOOKING AT, BEFORE YOU INQUIRE TO ADOPT.
