More About Rupert needs help!

This is a courtesy referral posting. Austin Aussie Rescue does not warrant any claims about any dog listed as a referral.

RUPERT - Est. 7 yrs., 50 lb. (09-14-09)

Rupert, a blue merle, was found by a caring student in the San Antonio area. He's been scanned for chips, taken to vets, posters put up, and ads placed--to no avail. Her family has taken him in to their home in Round Rock, and named him Rupert.

He went to the vet for his vaccinations, where he was diagnosed with heartworm disease...and not in the initial stages. Rupert was also underweight although his new family has fattened him up some! He also badly needs a dental cleaning and has a broken tooth that needs to be pulled. He has been treated for hookworms, and was neutered on Oct. 7, 2009.

The family reports. . ."He is the sweetest thing! We want to make the remainder of Rupert's life wonderful. He gets along well with our dogs. I'm also amazed how Rupert and our dachshund (Slinky, 10 years old) have taken to each other. They cuddle and Slinky usually does not take well to other dogs (although Rupert knows Slinky is boss). Never had a dog over 20 lbs and never thought I would want one, but Rupert won over our hearts. Learning a lot about the breed!"

"Our beloved dachshund has been undergoing chemo for over a year (and recently had his last treatment) and our peek-a-poo just had surgery. After a year and a half, Slinky has had to cease his chemo."

We are seeking donations to help the family cover the expenses of Rupert's dental ($200) and heartworm treatment (approximately $200). You can send a check--and make a note that it is for Rupert--to:
