More About Wendall

Mr. Barnes (that was his foster mom and dad call him) is a red short haired boy, about 8-10 years old. He has had a dental so has minty fresh breath. Mr Barnes has big brown eyes that will melt your heart the first time you meet him. He can sometimes seem a little sad, so he needs someone to love him right out of that feeling. Mr. Barns would be best living in a home with no kitties. He loves being outside and sitting in the sun on good weather days. He has fun playing with other doggies. He can get down stairs on his own however he needs a little help getting back up them. He loves his rawhide chews and baby carrots! He is very cuddly and affectionate and wants nothing more than your company! He is a darling! “Mr. Barnes” is the bomb! That is what we call him and he shuffles around to that name. He is sweet and kind… very quiet until you leave him alone or he sees you playing with the other dogs and he can’t get to you – then he barks in his best throaty Barry White voice (begging for help to climb the steps or have you place him on the sofa with the other doggies). He is unable to jump up on furniture or climb up steps so he needs to be lifted and carried under some circumstances. He can get down steps and things OK. He gets along with all people and with our doggies however he is not a fan of cats – he chases them either out of dislike or curiosity – not sure which. He is missing his canine teeth but still eats plenty and eats well. He is affectionate and just a cool mellow fellow. Not high energy. He is completely house-broken and just likes to snuggle up on your lap and/or burrow himself in a nice blanket. He loves/needs to sleep in the people bed at night. He is quite the charmer. He’s got some graying around the face and he reminds me of an old soul. Wendall update: As you can tell from his last 2 pictures, sweet boy got involved in a little scuffle at his foster home. Since he doesn't have any canine teeth, he took more than he gave. He went to the emergency vet and lo and behold- they were able to re-attach his ear flap! The Mayo clinic has nothing on them! If you'd like to contribute to the vet bill, Wendall would consider it a personal favor. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of the metro-Atlanta area. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachsies' back. If you are interested in adopting Wendall, you can fill out an application right at our website! Go to www.dreamrescue.org/Adopt. Then click on Our Online Application. Wendall's adoption fee is $225. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Wendall will come to his new family microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations and with a dental. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.
