Wait! Please don't be judging this cat by his cover. I know I look a bit like I just climbed out of a rundown boxing gym somewhere between Hoboken and Newark. And I might have. But come on over and get to know this lost-a-few-fights-and-got-a-bent-ear once upon a time boxer. You'll be glad you did.

Why? Because I am gentle as a morning breeze, friendly as a candidate for City Council, and I just love people. Try me out. I put my long, strong, not very old, guy legs on you. I look into your eyes and into your soul. I am Rox, and I so want to get to know you. Oh, my - you pat my big head - you look into my eyes and into my soul. I am so pleased; I must knead my blankie and purr, purr, purr. I am so pleased that I knead my blankie with my gloves. I am retired - I do not box - not ever again. But, as Marlon Brando said so well, 'I coulda been a contender....'

'Coulda been, shoulda been....' But some uncouth fellow, in some bout, gave me a bite and a spit - and now I have the FIV. So I'll not be at the gym again - but I would love to be with you, curl up in your lap, put my cat fellow legs on your shoulder, and purr. I do, do, do, love people.

And, if you ever doubt that the gentle house cat is but cousin to the noble lion, take a good look at my face. Yes, there's lion, lion, lion there - and I am proud. I guess I did a lot of living in my life to date, but I am truly the tough guy with the heart of gold. And some quite nice stripes on my sides and back, too. Love me, love me, love me - I am a lion and I've hung up the gloves for good. I am Rox - not Rocks - not Roxanne - and not Rex. Just Rox - and nothing would please me more than to see you walk in with $100 and cuddle me up forever. How about it?
