Domestic Short Hair-black and white, Tuxedo [Mix]

I am going to win an Oscar for my performance: Best Performance by a Small, Sweet, House Cat Impersonating a Giant, Ferocious, Black and White Panther. I am really good! I am just lying here, all nice and relaxed, in my cozy cat cave, lolling about and watching everything. Dainty little nose, dainty little paws, a jar of food that says “Kitten”. How sweet! How innocent!

Ha! Go ahead, person. Do stop by and say something sweet, like, “Aren’t you cute?” Oh, yes, I am! Now watch – I hiss in Full Panther! Ha! Aren’t you scared? No? I grab my guitar and launch into some Janis Joplin, “Take another piece of my heart now, baby…..Come on, come on….” Is that enough emoting as someone I really am not to win me an Oscar? Well, I certainly am trying!

I’ll tell you, though – acting is hard work. I’d much rather be the small, sweet house cat that I really am. I am watching you carefully for signs that you just might be the people to whom I can confess, “I’m a tiny young house girl. I had some bad experiences. What I truly want is love.” I’m studying people carefully. I like being relaxed. Some of my neighboring cats keep telling me, “People are good. They feed us and pet us and make sure we’re warm and happy.” Would you please help me believe?

“Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose….” Janis sang that, too – and she was right. That’s how I felt when I found myself free – out on the street – with nothin’. I’m too young to give up. I want somethin’ – love, a home, a place where I don’t have to perform, where I can be me – Pearl. Did you know that Janis’s last album was “Pearl”? That she called herself Pearl? That she was tiny – like me? I’m going to make it, though. I’m going to win that Oscar – and then I’m going to settle down and purr – that is, if you will just praise my performance – and my tiny nose – and bring $100 for a lifetime ticket to Pearl. Secret: a very big heart in a very tiny black and white body. Good secret!
