More About Opal

Do you like antiques? No, no, I'm not an old cat; I am actually quite young. But if you've ever prowled antique shops - the ones with signs that say 'Antiques & Junque', you have probably seen a Mid-Century (aka circa 1950) cookie jar shaped like a curled up black and white cat. Have you? Then you have seen me. I have the soft round body and the very round face of a cookie jar cat. Understand, though: if you try to take my head off to look for cookies, I may just remove your hand from you.

Appreciate the difference between me and those Mid-Century storage vessels. I am much softer, much warmer, and much furrier than some old piece of ceramic. I will eat cookies; that's true. I prefer tuna chip and liver chip cookies, however. Chocolate is yucky. Don't argue; it is. I need bribes, attention, and lots of reassurance. I don't remember exactly where I've been or what happened; we cats do our best to just move on. But wherever and whatever, I learned to yell first and ask questions later. It kept me out of trouble, but it's not much fun - and it's a terribly lonely way to live. So I'm working on it. Ask first - if I roll over and stretch, will you give me a kind touch? You will? Wow! Maybe I'll try that again. I want a new world and a new life.

So I'm not antique - and I am certainly not junque! I like treats. I'm learning about toys - I don't think I've had much fun until now. There are some thoroughly self-assured cats here with me, and they have told me, 'Opal, it is OK. People are good. Go forward. Trust. And let the force be with you.' How about we give it a try? I will look so good in your kitchen, bedroom, living room, den. Bring me treats, and $100 for the shopkeepers. I think I like you. I think I do.
