More About Penelope

Penelope had been running loose in somebody's yard for five days when they picked her up and took her to the shelter. We brought her into foster care as the shelter is not equipped to provide the housing and dietary needs of a bunny. Based on her age and the timing, we think it is highly likely she was an Easter gift that was booted out when the novelty wore off. Sadly, people still don't listen no matter how much publicity there is about NOT getting live rabbits for Easter.

Penelope was found with some grease on her head - that is why she has a spike punk hairdo going. We've been working on cleaning it up and Penelope has been grooming herself so slowly her head is returning to normal.

Penelope has been thoroughly checked by an exotics veterinarian. She appears to be very healthy and is around 8-9 months old. She is not nippy and has not been chewing inappropriately in her foster home. Penelope currently weighs 3.8 pounds.

Training Penelope to the litter box was a breeze! We gave her a few litter box options (different types of boxes with different types of litter), she immediately decided on her favorite and has used it consistently ever since even when allowed free roam in the room.

Penelope has been spayed and microchipped.

Companion Critters, Inc. is a rescue group where all available pets are fostered in private homes. We always keep listings up to date so this pet is still available and applications are being accepted. If interested in adopting, please complete a small animal application.
