More About Max

Meet Max! He is a Dutch Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix and is around 1 yr old (as of 8/20). He came to us as an emergency. He was run over by a car in his mid section on the Paris bypass. Luckily, a good Samaritan and police officer found him and rushed him to the local Vet. He was in shock and a lot of pain, but has pulled through. He doesn’t have any internal injuries, but his front leg is useless now. The Vet indicated that he needs to have it amputated. We are so thoroughly charmed by this dog, we are willing to do every thing that is needed to get him well and into a loving, forever home. So we are seeking donations to cover the Vet care. He has had his amputation now and has adjusted very well. He is a super sweetheart who has won the hearts of all of us. He has a great attitude and didn't let his injury impact him and has adjusted very well to the amputation. He gets along on 3 legs without any problems and is completely healed. He loves being around people and is very friendly. He has been staying loose in our lobby and has become our official greeter. He thinks this is a great job to have. He likes our director and tries to follow her every where. This is the type of devotion he will give to you once he is adopted. He gets along great with other dogs and hasn’t paid any attention to our cats in the lobby. He likes to play with our director's dog where he stayed while he was healing. He is also crate trained. He is a very handsome dog and has a brown and orange brindle coat. He weighs 50 - 55 lbs. We can easily take food from him and he politely takes treats. He did great with his temperament test and has certainly proved to be tolerant with his injuries. If you are interested in adopting Max, please let us know. He is a real gem.

If you would like to donate funds to help us cover his veterinary care, we would greatly appreciate it. You can mail a check or use our donate button on the home page.

Please note: This wonderful dog cannot go to his/her new home until the adoption application is completed and approved and the dog has been spayed/neutered. If you would like an application, please call the shelter since we do not have an electronic version
