More About Nicodemus
My name is Nicodemus, but most people call me Nic. My foster mom says I'm a sweet gentle fellow! I do try. I like to follow me her the house to see what’s going on, and if she sits down, I lie right beside her on the sofa with my head on her lap. I really like to get lots of attention and pets. I will nudge her hand when I need some lovin'. I walk well on the leash, but I am learning to balance again because I had to have one of my eyes taken out. I had a terrible infection and it made my eye get infected too.
At night, I sleep on a blanket on the floor by my foster mom's bed. I root under the blanket and then stay there all night. I get along well with the other dogs at my foster home. My foster mom took me to a dachshund social event and I got along great with every dog there! I really enjoy humans, too! I am housetrained -- a dachshund miracle -- if I am kept on a schedule so I know when and where to go potty. When I hear the word “potty” I run to the door and stand politely to have my leash put on. Such nice manners!! I do my business very quickly once I get to the Potty place. I am learning to sit, and I am already very good at shaking hands! All I need now is my forever family!
DREAM says that I came from a place called a puppymill. They didn't take care of my teeth there, so I had to have a lot of them taken out. I also have heartworms, so I need to get treated for that before I am adopted. I am about 6 years old. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta/North Georgia area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of the metro-Atlanta area. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachsies' back. If you are interested in adopting Nic, you can fill out an application right at our website! Go to www.dreamrescue.org/Adopt. Then click on Our Online Application. Nic's adoption fee is $200. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees. You can also see DREAM's blog, The Rescue Life, at www.dreamdachshundrescue.wordpress.com, and follow us on twitter.
