More About Molly Bear

We adopted Molly (formerly Janet, which I still maintain is a strange name for a dog!) from your shelter 8 weeks ago, and things are going GREAT! She is still young, and had been in the shelter around 2 months, so she definitely needed a refresher on house breaking (but considering she didn't even know sit when we got her, we didn't have high hopes that she would catch on as fast as she did!) Crate training has been going OK - she has separation anxiety, so she is wonderful in the crate when we are home (she even sits in it when we are just hanging out) but becomes anxious when we are away. Luckily, she has started to catch onto the idea that we are ALWAYS coming home, and so it's been getting easier. She's learned a BUNCH on tricks (Sit, Down, Shake, Strike a Pose, Go to your Crate, Go to your Bed, and Crawl so far!) and we have even started off-leash training with her! She LOVES everyone! At first, she was definitely afraid of men, but has learned to love men and women and children alike! When we first got her, she would wolf down her food, and snap at our hands if we had treats, but now she eats slow (sometimes even leaves some food for later!) and takes treats nice. We've even become comfortable allowing small children to give her treats! She loves the dog park where we take her every day, and just this past week she learned to swim! She has made friends with dogs big and small, and even hit it off with our new roommate's cat. Overall, Molly has turned out to be a wonderful pet! At the shelter she seemed lethargic, disconnected, and disheartened, she was even underweight, and now she is a (mostly!) trained, well mannered happy healthy dog! She had a complete turn-around once she realized she is never going back there! We were nervous adopting from a shelter, but the staff made us feel confident that we were doing the right thing, and we couldn't be happier to have her. She is truly a blessing, and has brought so much happiness into our lives so far! Anne

Molly Bear is spayed/neutered.
