Wirehaired Terrier

Max is a 2 yo mellow wirehaired terrier. He's happy relaxing on a couch all day long, especially if he's got someone close who'll scratch him behind his ears.

He loves an invitation to sit on the couch or on his person's lap. He waits at the door till you invite him to go outside and walk. He’s housetrained, but he doesn’t bark or scratch at the door. He just sits and stares at you then looks at the door.

He’d be great for fans of Star Wars, because if you say “o-u-t” he gets excited and makes a Chewbacca noise. He likes to chase cats, but it’s really easy to snap him out of it.

He'd be fine with kids 5 or 6 and up, but his foster person thinks he'd probably be irritable if he got his tail pulled by a little one. He will bark at other dogs while on a walk, but gets along fine with his foster mom's female dog.

He’s great on a leash. Although he doesn’t know “sit” or “stay”, he will “go lay down”. He’s crate trained. He doesn’t chew anything up or get into anything. Max is microchipped, neutered, up to date on his shots, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Max is a great young dog who's looking forward to finding his forever home.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
