More About Pattycake

Pattycake – a rarity in that most orange cats are males – is estimated to be 3 yrs of age as of Apr 2009. She was taken in by a disreputable “rescue group” and received no vet care. (To learn more about the situation Pattycake came from, click here for an article from the Pottstown Mercury.) As a result she had horrible ear mites leading to profuse shaking of her head eventually causing a hematoma.

She was rescued from this “rescue group” by Stray Cat Blues after she was observed literally screaming in pain and scratching a bloody groove into her ear. Under Stray Cat Blues’ care she was spayed, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested and provided medical care to kill the ear mites. The only sign of her horrible past is her crinkled left ear (which does not cause her any pain or problems).

Today Pattycake is a sweet girl who enjoys attention. She likes hanging out with people and adores having the top of her head and side of her face rubbed. She’ll gladly sit in a lap and knead her paws to show affection. When tired she settles in for some serious slumber time.

Pattycake loves to play. She pounces on toy mice and chases after ping pong balls. She’s not averse to a game of hide and seek as she disappears under a blanket or sheet only to emerge and surprise her human playmates.

Pattycake has a couple of negatives. She doesn’t get along well with other cats. This is probably due to a lack of socialization when she was young and hoarded in solitary, horrible conditions at the disreputable “rescue”. She also can snap from time to time when scared. She doesn’t do this often and it’s easily controlled by letting her set the pace of interaction with human companions.

Pattycake will require a home where she is the only cat. If you can provide safety, warmth and love she will return it in spades. She deserves a wonderful forever home. Will you be the one to provide her the life she deserves?

Pattycake is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Her estimated date of birth is April 2006.
