Pug, Chihuahua [Mix]

Rooee has been in foster care for several months. Although she is finally starting to make up to the man of the house, it is safe to say she would do much better in an all female home. This little dog has residual emotional damage from her past life in a puppymill and will require a patient home willing to put effort into earning Rooee's trust. Her adoption fee is negotiable to the right home.

Per Rooee: I am a solid, well muscled, 13 pound, female, Chihuahua / Pug mix looking for a special person or family to spend the rest of my life with. My name is Rooee. The lady of the house started calling me that when I got here, saying I have the face of a baby kangaroo……whatever that is.

I am currently living with a family that has shown me things I have never known before like good food and toys and they even let me curl up with them at night in their very own bed!!!! I remember being scared all the time when I first arrived, constantly circling in attempt to release my anxiety. I still circle sometimes but I spend a lot more time exploring, playing and even relaxing! Can’t tell you how nice it is to be comfortable enough to relax!!!

As much as I appreciate all this, I have to admit that sometimes my mind just doesn’t seem to think straight and I get scared. Since I can’t jump up on the bed by myself, I need to be lifted up. And as much as I want up there, I still run until I’m cornered so I can be picked up. Once in bed, I turn into a cuddle bug. Love to sleep right up close to my favorite person. I have noticed that my other canine companions like to cuddle with people whenever they can but I really only prefer cuddling at night. I yearn to be petted, but even need to be coaxed into that. Darned if I can tell you why, but I think it has something to do with the lack of socialization in my younger days, when I needed it most.

I think I would respond well to positive training but it is hard to do that around here with so many other animals that want to learn too. I have learned a few things that should help me in my quest to become a more balanced furkid. I have first and foremost learned to potty outside. I will have an accident if made to go too long, but always make an attempt to wait. I have also learned to crate on command and hold very still to have my nails dremmeled. Being that I have a sweet, submissive nature, it was easy to learn to interact appropriately with the resident cat and rabbit. I am still working on leash training as it scares me something terrible. That being said, my new home would need a secure yard. It would also be nice to have at least one canine companion with a preferable balanced nature to reinforce calmness as I do love being one of the pack here.

Despite the fact that I have become very comfortable here, I do need to find my very own home. I know they love me because I feel it, but they tell me I need to find another family just like them, so they can take in others like me and help them find a forever home too. Rescue will make sure I am current on vaccinations and spayed prior to placement. Adoption fee is $100.
