More About Bishop ADOPTED:)

6/6/09 WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL DONATIONS TO HELP WITH BISHOP'S BILLS. wE HAVE SPENT MORE THAN $175 TO HELP THIS SWEET BOY. BUT WANT TO KEEP THE ADOPTION FEE LOW SINCE HE IS A SENIOR. PLEASE CLICK ON THE PAYPAL LINK ON THE HOME PAGE. OR SEND TO: WPR, PO BOX 291, WAVERLY, IA 50677. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

6/5/09 BISHOP HAS BEEN CHECKED OVER BY A 2ND VET AND HIS OPINION OF HIS LEGS AND HIPS IS THE SAME AS THE 1ST VET. ALSO, BISHOP IS GOING TO PETCO TODAY FOR THE SPA TREATMENT! HE WILL BE GETTING A BATH, A HAIRCUT, TEETH CLEANED, ETC. WILL POST NEW PICS SOON!

5/6/09 UPDATE: PICS ARE: #1 AND #2 AFTER HIS GROOMING, #3 WHEN WE TOOK HIM.

Bishop was a stray no one came looking for. He ended up in a place that keeps the strays. When his time was up, Waverly Pet Rescue took him in so that he would not die. He is now with the Waverly Pet Rescue and in a foster home. He is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative, and neutered.

Bishop is about 10-years-old. He only weighs about 38 pounds and the vet said he should weigh about 45, no more and no less. So we will work on fattening him up a little bit! He is a gentle kind soul. He is a sweet old boy & very mellow. He only had one accident in his kennel so must be housetrained. We took him to the vet because he drags his back legs a bit. The vet took x-rays on him and determined that in the past, he had hip issues because he has a pin in there to fix it. It has deterioted so that is why he has this issue now. He does get around pretty well so he has adapted to it. When I asked if we should do surgery on him to fix him up again, the vet said he felt that would be too hard on the dog and he said it would be best not too because of his age. He didn't think Bishop was in any pain because he didn't yelp or flinch when he examined him. The vet said Bishop would be the perfect dog for someone that wanted a companion to hang out with and wouldn't jump up on them or be able to leap over their fence. The vet was also surprised that this dog had very expensive surgery is the past, has a wonderful disposition, and yet the owner never came looking for him. The vet also said that the dog is too skinny and once he gains back some weight, the muscle in his legs will bulk up and he should do better. He felt with good care, good food, give him some time and his condition will improve. Anyway, Bishop needs a good home and deserves to live out the rest of his life with love.

6/5/09 UPDATE: He is the sweetest boy! He'll make someone a fantastic pet! Right now he is snoring away outside my patio door in the shade in the backyard - content as can be! When Tim gets home tonight we are going to put baby gates up across the 2 doorways into the kitchen and keep him in there until I can find a kennel big enough for him. Our dogs old kennel is way too small!

6/6/09 UPDATE: He was literally so tuckered out after his day at the spa, he hasn't stood up enough to get any full pictures of his new look! I tried to get a few of him laying down, but I'll send some more tomorrow so you have more to choose from! Most noticeable is his TAIL - you can actually tell that he has one and where it is now! You sure couldn't before - it was just a mass of fur sticking out everywhere! He seems to be adapting quite well. He has a little 3 lb. Yorkie here for a companion this week, along with the cats, so he'll have some company! So far they've gotten along well. He's still a little tuckered today. I'm having a time getting him to eat what I bought him, so I'll buy a small bag of something else and see if I can get him to eat that. He follows me around whenever he's awake and just wants to be with people! He lumbered into the computer room with me and is laying in here by the doorway - I guess so I can't get by him to get out without his knowing it!

6/8/09 UPDATE: We have been trying to decide what Bishop's breed is. Is the opinion of our dog expert after seeing his new pictures: I am thinking aussie/malamute (doesn't seem to have fine enough characteristics for a husky mix). Bernese Mountain Dogs paws are not as thick like his, they are wide but have long toes instead of short ones. The long toes is bred into them so they could grip while walking the mountains and rocks. Malamutes have the paws that are short and thick. Could have the border collie in him too and maybe a little angolian shepard or malawa. He is serioulsy a mutt and you know I don't mean that in a bad way. And be sure to mention he has a docked tail and only weighs about 38 pounds.

Will someone please adopt Bishop and give him a forever home? $50.00 adoption fee. (with his vet bills and grooming fee we have put more than $175 into Bishop)

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first. If you have questions or want to request an application, please send an email to the email address listed. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues.

Bishop ADOPTED:) is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
